Kritisk masse (Critical Mass) is an annual conference organized in partnership with Skepsis, Norway’s national association for skepticism. The first Critical Mass, in 2010 was the first ever public conference centered on skepticism and critical thinking held in Norway.
Anti-scientific and irrational therapies, ideas and beliefs, misunderstandings and abuses of science continue to proliferate, often aided by an uncritical media. The aim of the conference is to celebrate of science and communicate the nature and importance of critical thinking to the general public. International and Scandinavian speakers come together for a weekend to debate, discuss and communicate scientific ideas in a way that is accessible to all.
Our goal is to invoke the joy, depth and richness that is to be found in science and the natural world and expose people to ideas and ways of thinking that will make them more critical and equip them with the ‘skeptical toolkit’ they need to separate science from quackery.
Critical Mass is a volunteer, not-for-profit venture. The organisers do benefit financially in anyway and all surplus proceeds from the event are reinvested in future events.
